Libraries with Heart
The New Port Richey Public Library is proud to announce a groundbreaking addition to its array of community health services. As part of the Libraries with Heart Initiative, BayCare and the American Heart Association have donated a Higi Station to our library. This state-of-the-art health kiosk offers visitors easy access to a wide range of health metrics, further solidifying the New Port Richey Public Library’s commitment to community well-being.
The New Port Richey Public Library is the first library in Pasco County to provide these innovative health services, a testament to its dedication to promoting wellness within in the community. The Higi Station offers an array of health assessments, including weight, body mass index (BMI), pulse, blood pressure, and more.
As part of the Libraries with Heart Initiative, the New Port Richey Public Library has also receive multiple blood pressure kits. Each kit will include a sphygmomanometer, informational diagrams on how to read results, and additional cardiac health resources. These kits will be circulated much like our other materials, and should be an invaluable resource for individuals seeking to monitor and improve their cardiovascular health. Learn more about the kits here.
The American Heart Association (AHA) will also supply the New Port Richey Public Library with a CPR & First Aid Anywhere Kit, intended for future classes and outreach programs. These donations will provide first aid training and empower community members to respond effectively in emergency situations.
As part of our ongoing collaboration with the American Heart Association and BayCare, we will continue to offer heart-healthy programming here at the Library. This will include medical screenings and informational classes on cardiac health, diabetes, and more. Be sure to check out our online calendar for future classes.
